Traumatised by a criminal conspiracy to frame him in 1970s Ireland the author’s response, in part, was to turn to poetry.
Pregnant Man is presented in a combination of lyrical free and blank verse, and concerns understanding internal change, in himself and others, over a lengthy period in honest emotional language.
This is one of four collections. Over time it was written disjointedly and sporadically, in and out of jail and relationships. Their themes are introspection, incarceration, relationships and the ultimate loss of death.
Contrasting lyrical and brutal words and images encapsulate the author’s struggle to rationalize trauma and loss and allow internal emotions to surface.
